Sagahonoka is a hybrid of parent cultivars called "Onishiki" and "Toyonaka". As the "Saga" in its name implies, this variety was nurtured at Saga Prefecture Agricultural Research Center from 1991, and in 2001 was officially registered as a cultivar. It is cultivated mainly in Kyushu, including Saga Prefecture. It is a robust strawberry with a beautiful shape. Also, as it has little sourness, lots of juice and strong sweetness, it goes great with sweets such as cakes.

[Producer Introduction] Shimomura Farm
"Sagahonoka", a key Saga cultivar, is a robust strawberry with a beautiful shape. Also, as it has little sourness and outstanding sweetness, it goes great with sweets such as cakes. Regardless of the one you eat, the strawberries of Shimomura Farm have stabilized sweetness and sugar content. At Shimomura Farm, while increasing cultivation at an elevated level above the ground, all fruit is soil cultivated. In addition, careful attention is paid to soil creation and, as fruit is cultivated mainly with organic fertilizers, microorganisms are made use of, and so pleasant tasting strawberries are grown. These strawberries have also received high praise from a local cake shop the producer trades with.
