●Kyoto Uji Tencha, "The Uji"
Looks just like wine!! Made using only the finest hand-picked tencha from Uji, Kyoto, each bottle is manufactured one by one without any additives, colorings or flavorings. The wonderful taste of tencha, which up until now only tea farmers knew about, packed into a bottle. Simply pour into a glass and enjoy the authentic aroma and mild richness of Uji tea. Tencha is the tea leaves used for matcha tea before they are ground with a stone mill. In other words, it is often used as an ingredient for another item and not commonly commercially available. However, tea farmers have become fond of drinking it at home. With such a fragrant taste, it's perhaps no wonder that they decided to keep it secret. The tea leaves are picked by hand and covered for at least 20 days, then steamed and dried in a tencha furnace to make into tea. This is perfect for when you want to enjoy a luxurious moment, just like enjoying a drink at a luxury restaurant, hotel or inn, as well as a wedding, business etc. gift for an especially important person.

[Producer Introduction] JA Kyoto Yamashiro
The southern part of Kyoto where the Uji & Kizu rivers flow has optimum conditions, including yearly rainfall, soil quality & slightly raised sloping terrain, for the creation of tea. Uji tea, which started being made in the Kamakura period, was promoted by the Ashikaga shogunate during the Muromachi period, so tea rooms opened and it began to be widely consumed. Through the accumulation of 800 years of history, Uji tea is now popularly loved as one of Japan's leading delicious teas. Also, it is made without any chemicals or additives such as antioxidants, preservatives, synthetic flavorings and colorings, and is manufactured without heat or drug sterilization, instead using an unheated filter sterilization method. In order not to impair the original delicate flavor of Uji tea, the finest hand-picked tea leaves are extracted with just water over 3-6 days.
